The Zions Bank Daybreak branch takes its form as a response to the suburban context of the emerging master-planned community of Daybreak in South Jordan, Utah. The unique building form places the design like an object in the suburban fabric. Creating a juxtaposition between the dynamic facades of the branch, which can be seen from all sides, and the somewhat inherent repetition of surrounding suburban forms. Its materiality by contrast embraces the suburban context with stone facades mirroring the weight of the surrounding mountains and the ochre tones of the vegetation in the valley, and the fine lines of metal evoking the detailing of the automobiles so intrinsic to life in a suburb.
