The Pleasant Valley Branch is situated in Washington Terrace, Utah and features a traditional reading room, public gallery, and dedicated children’s programming spaces. With its tranquil main reading room, welcoming contemplation and offering visitors a chance to escape into a book or computer screen, the building plays with the centripetal configuration so pervasive in the library typology. Taking the status of a library as the initial orientation point for new community members and children alike the plan nods to the reading room as the endpoint along the axis of the library’s larger path as an implicit way-finding and a welcoming presence.
