The Weber County Library Headquarters in Roy, Utah, re-imagines a traditional branch. The facility serves as both a library and community center, offering a black box theater, public gallery, multipurpose rooms, flexible access to technology, reading garden, and amphitheater. Aiming to fill gaps in local after-school programming, the library offers dedicated spaces and collections for children, teens, and young adults. The design also addresses the evolving technological needs of libraries with a digital infrastructure, including an automated retrieval system, data center, and adaptable computing spaces the building moves past the traditional image of a library as sancta for physical books alone.
