The Department of Art wanted an adaptable building that anticipates growth within the discipline. Changing techniques and a shift toward digital platforms call for new kinds of spaces and teaching approaches.The buildings character manifests in the method of construction, such as folded metal decking to allow natural light into the galleries and custom exterior walls surrounding a sculpture garden. The building highlights the distinction between making and displaying by including galleries, student commons, and studio space.
